Participants in the Plein Air Festival were required to capture new photographs taken between 5:00 AM on October 3rd, 2025, and 11:59 PM on October 5th, 2025. All images had to be created outdoors, specifically within Coconino County, the greater Sedona area, or nearby Reservations. Once the shooting window closed, there were only a few days to print, frame, and deliver the finished work for judging on October 10th.
This was my first time participating in a Sedona photography event of this kind. I didn’t win the contest, but the experience of photographing with a clear deadline, specific constraints, and a quiet sense of shared purpose was gratifying. It pushed me to approach familiar landscapes in Coconino County photography with fresh attention, and I left the festival more inspired than when I arrived. The following scenes were captured during those three days.
