The first time I drove up to Lost Dutchman State Park, I was in awe! The low clouds and fog clinging and weaving between the mountains that morning were striking. The lighting was cool, the energy was calm, and I took my time walking and photographing parts of Treasure Trail Loop. I spent a couple of hours there before leaving for the afternoon.
I wasn't sure I would do it at first, but I returned that same day in the evening, and I am glad I did. The contrast between the two visits was entirely worth it. The lighting was much warmer, the sky had cleared a little, people were paramotoring across the sky, and there was a high energy in the air! The full moon rise at the end was a chef's kiss. Timing and lighting make all the difference — maybe a little luck, too.
No matter which mood you like best, you can bring one or both home with you by choosing from my available prints from this trip. Maybe they'll even inspire your next visit to Lost Dutchman.

The goal was to spend a day or two photographing Lost Dutchman State Park; however, the drive down turned into an 8-hour scenic road trip, leaving me with only one day to visit the park.
Stay tuned — a new post about visiting Lost Dutchman State Park twice in one day is coming June 1st.
